Stan Wawrinka hit 61 winners Gave Switzerland Lead in Davis Cup final
Stan Wawrinka used his skills and raw power to help Switzerland win against France in the Davis Cup final. He defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, last Friday afternoon. The Davis Cup final has a record breaking attendance with 27,432 in attendance at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille.
However, Roger Federer was not able to capitalize with Switzerland's early win as he lost to France's Gael Monfils in the second singles rubber.
In the first set Wawrinka dominated the game by winning five straight games to clinch opener. Tsonga regrouped and user his aggressiveness to win the second set. In the fourth set, Wawrinka took a 2-0 lead and never looked back. He earned his 21st singles rubber match win for Switzerland in 2 hours and 24 minutes, hitting 61 winners to Tsonga's 39.
