Roger Federer Take Home His Record-Breaking 8th Wimbledon Title
Roger Federer, who will be 36 next month, is the oldest man to win the Wimbledon singles title in the Open era, which began in 1968. Federer had to deal with numerous tough calls right through the years to get a win against the ailing and forlorn Marin Cilic on Sunday. He was the clear favorite since winning his first title in 2003. He raced through the match in one hour and 41 minutes and dropped only 8 games in a 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 procession.
Federer surpassed the big-serving American “Pistol” Pete Sampras and the Victorian-era great, William Renshaw, who have 7 Wimbledon Title. He also became the first man to win Wimbledon without dropping a set since Bjorn Borg in 1976.
